Few people make their way to the outskirts of BYU campus; however, on Tuesday, August 23, over 100 people gathered at the Maeser Building. As part of University Conference week, Undergraduate Education (UE) held an open house for invited faculty, staff, and administrators.
The purpose was to connect with the BYU community and inform them of ways to become involved with UE and its programs. Attendees spoke with program deans and directors to learn:
- how to better support new students, the resources First-Year Experience provides incoming students and new initiatives.
- ways to be involved in the Honors Program, including Alcuin Fellowships, student mentoring and directing a thesis.
- about Explorations classes and proposed changes to the General Education program.
- what Study Abroad for General Education is and how to apply for the 2023 and 2024 academic years.
- how to help students apply to major scholarships with the help of National Scholarships and Prestigious Fellowships.
Newly appointed Dean of UE Richard Gill met and greeted guests who enjoyed a shave ice treat at the conclusion of their visit. If you want to be involved, contact UE, at undergraduate.education@byu.edu.
